We aim to reach young Americans across all fifty states, from all backgrounds, inspiring them to explore aviation and aerospace through instruction in Science, Technology and Mathematics (STEM), hands-on learning, and mentorship delivering Career Technical Education (CTE) to the highest level.
Reach for the Sky aims to bridge the gap between inspiration and tangible career pathways for every student, regardless of background. Within five years, a student in any of the fifty states will have had the chance to sit under a wing, learn that flight is not reserved for the exceptional few, and leave with a concrete next step toward an aviation-related career.
The core idea of Reach for the Sky is a story that inspires, and a doorway through which young people are led to go beyond what they had believed to be possible.
A signature story-driven presentation, anchored in the history of aviators who flew beyond the limits placed on them — including limits of gender, race, geography, and physical ability — opens every visit. This is the emotional entry point that earns attention before any career content is introduced.
The visitation program is the delivery mechanism for the entire mission and is scaled deliberately, state by state, rather than city by city, so that reach can be reported and planned against the explicit fifty-state goal — a route network built one leg at a time until it covers the country.
Every visit ends with something concrete: named programs, scholarships, apprenticeships, and entry points across the full range of aviation-adjacent careers — pilots, engineers, mechanics, air traffic control, meteorology, design, and business — so the multi-disciplinary promise of the mission is made visible, not just stated.
Accessibility and adaptive-aviation partnerships are built into the program design from year one, not added later, so that ‘regardless of background and physical ability’ is structural rather than aspirational language.
Every flight plan names an alternate — not as a backup to the mission, but as proof the mission was planned properly. Reach for the Sky’s alternate is commitment to reach out to young people whose circumstances, such as a mental health struggle or a juvenile detention placement, have diverted them from conventional paths. A diversion is not a failure; it is a procedure every pilot is trained to execute.
